"Introduction to Handguns" gun safety course:

WHERE: French Creek Outfitters

WHEN: Courses are held every Thursday evening at 5:30pm to 8:30pm
COST: $100 per student.  A $50 Deposit due at sign up to hold your position in class .  The $50 balance is due before class starts. Cancellations received with less than 72 hours notice will forfeit their deposit

HOW DO I SIGN UP?  ​ Call French Creek Outfitters at 610-933-7200 and ask for the gun range. The will take your deposit over the phone or in person.



NOTES: This course or an equivalent is a requirement to take any advanced courses offered by Civilian Defense Concepts, LLC when held at French Creek Outfitters 


The "Introduction to Handguns" course is taught by NRA Certified instructors. It is an enhanced version of the NRA Pistol Marksmanship Simulator Course.  The safety principles taught apply to all firearms, not just handguns.

Course Goal:
"To provide beginning shooters with an introduction to the knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary to own and use a Handgun safely."

Covered Material:  

  • Firearm safety*
  • Ammunition Identification*
  • Basic two handed shooting techniques*
  • Safe Storage of Firearms & Ammunition*


Upon completion students receive:  

  • Feedback on the Live-Fire Exercise
  • Course completion certificate 


French Creek Outfitters "Introduction to Handguns" gun safety course, taught by NRA certified instructors from Civilian Defense Concepts, LLC,  is designed to provide a hands-on introduction to the safe handling and proper operation of semi-automatic handguns. This course is approximately three hours long. This includes classroom and range time learning to use semi-automatic pistols.  If you are a revolver shooter, revolver information will be presented to you. Students will learn the rules for safe firearm Handling, ammunition, shooting fundamentals, pistol parts and operation.
